If I could only have one of the American Pie movies, that’s the one I’d pick. It does have some good humor, but it’s not the best. The rest are more fun and this movie is way too tame and safe for my liking. Some of the dialog is a bit daft. Much of the humor is recycled from the sequels. It’s ok but nothing to get excited about.
American Pie 2 is the second installment in the American Pie film series. This film is about a group of four high school seniors, with the protagonist/narrator being Sean (Chris Klein), who is in a committed relationship with his girlfriend, Michelle (Mena Suvari). They find themselves in the awkward situation of having sex with their steady girlfriends – Michelle being the only exception – while their friends are themselves obviously looking for some fun. The story line is about the adventures of these four teenaged boys as they are introduced to all sorts of debauchery and sexual encounters. This is a comedy of errors with unexpected turns and surprises. Most of the humor is derived from the mishaps and mishaps that they would encounter in their quest for sexual gratification.
American Pie 2 is a film that takes place in 1994. It is about a group of four high school seniors who are at a time when the concept of sex has been given to them. They have their own little ideas about each other, and yet their expectations of each other have not changed from the time when they were in high school. These four young men are at a time in their lives when they need to learn how to live with each other, and though they are all living a normal high school life, it is they who will learn what they are truly capable of, and what they are truly capable of learning. As the four begin to figure this out, the ball begins rolling, and it becomes a journey with a lot of comedic and dramatic moments. The final act has a lot of twists and turns along the way, but the very end, although it is a bit of a shock, is also quite entertaining. The story is well conceived and the characters well developed. I think American Pie is one of the better and funniest American Pie films.
The American Pie series seem to me like the younger brother of the popular Sex and the City movies, though I have never heard anyone claim the influence for the Carrie or Miranda series… That said, American Pie does have a heart and a soul, and it’s a quirky and hilarious watch.
Two kids from Ohio, Brian (Jason Biggs) and Stu (Thomas Ian Nicholas) decide to go on a road trip to California to try to find their fortune and fortune makers. Along the way, they meet an array of American statesmen, business owners, entrepreneurs and a couple who runs a very successful porn production company. What’s the line between, big business and porn? How far can you go before it’s illicit and criminal? You’ll have to find out.
This film is a classic American story of a young filmmaker’s dilemma. He didn’t get much commercial success with his first few films but as he continues in the business of film he grows in ambition. Eventually he wants to branch out and make bigger and more ambitious films. And what a wonderful way to do that is to make them with his own money. If he can just get a big enough sales lead to finance the entire production with his new film, then he’ll be in the position where he can make any movie he wants, for very little money. As things begin to go wrong he is plunged into a situation where none of this is going to work. I won’t say how it all turns out but it’s a tale of woe where perseverance and willpower come into play.
An American comedy about a group of teenagers who travel from Ohio to Los Angeles in search of the American Dream. In the process they set into motion a series of events that will change their lives. While the story is made up of caricatures of real people and situations, the movie is still funny and endearing.
