Well, not in the case of the SACA 2024 that brought government, private sector and industry leaders together to celebrate 17 years of innovation, excellence and development.
Headlined by the Department of Human Settlements, it was indeed an evening of great inspiration and success for South Africa and her citizens.
The government has brought many smiles to most deserving South Africans over the past 30 years. This involves those who are based in rural areas and others in the developing places across the country. This was because of the role played by the former Human Settlements Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi who has changed many people’s lives in the country. She is currently the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development and a Member of Parliament. Over the past years she has announced that South Africa has constructed and delivered 5 million houses across the Country. Kubayi has played a significant role in changing situations that were not food for black South Africans and young adults who were starting their lives from scratch. Minister Thembi Semelani has taken over her seat recently where she will have to overlook and continue with her previous roles in bringing dignity back to more many South Africans with quality housing that is fully equipped with water, electricity and sanitation.
This continuity of service is an achievement that reflects the government’s commitment to providing adequate housing for its citizens. Earlier this year during her keynote address, Minister Kubayi emphasized the importance of sustainable practices in the construction industry. She also outlined her vision for the sector’s future in South Africa and hoping to bring change where it is needed.
The South African Construction Awards 2024 became an evidence of her words in action by fully immersing herself and her department to an evening that celebrated even the most ordinary in construction.
