Photoshop uses a proprietary file format known as TIFF. Many online image-editing programs use the TIFF format.
Standard File Formats
Photoshop uses standard file formats, which offer a low-level exchange protocol. This protocol allows Photoshop to exchange data with other software applications that share the standard — the same as it shares with all other programs that use the TIFF image file format.
Access to a standard data exchange format makes Photoshop software, plugins, and layers interoperable with other software applications that can use the same format, such as other Adobe programs and plugins.
Some programs don’t fully support Photoshop’s native file format, and some don’t support Photoshop’s standard data exchange format. If you use Photoshop for images that you want to send to another person or other software application, your standard data exchange file format is TIFF, the native file format.
TIFF stands for Tagged Image File Format, but it also references the way the file uses a tag to store information about the image, including its contents and color space. See Figure 4-3.

The file can be protected with the Photoshop program’s password, using the Save As Password dialog box or the Edit → Protect Copyright Information command. This method is good for restricting access to images stored in the software.
The standard data exchange format for Photoshop is TIFF and the accompanying Photoshop binary format. A data exchange format is known as a format because it enables data exchange. All data exchanged with Photoshop needs to be in the same format — and Photoshop can recognize only the format that it understands.
The TIFF format has many benefits for image viewing and editing, such as data exchange, alpha channels, and layers. The TIFF format also has a stack-based editing system that uses layers. Many other image-editing programs use the TIFF format. TIFF is a standard exchange format for Adobe.
The Photoshop file format comes in two forms: the Photoshop binary file format, which is a Microsoft-compatibly compressed version of the TIFF file format, and the Photoshop portable file format, which is a compressed version of the Photoshop binary file format.

How to open a new file and apply editing
Windows
In Windows you can open a new file or select an existing file to edit by clicking the File menu and choosing Open. Or by pressing CTRL+O ( Windows key + O on a Mac).
After that, choose Photoshop Elements.
You can also go directly to the “File” menu and select New. Alternatively, you can right click on the blank screen and select New File from the menu.
In Photoshop Elements 11, the New option is no longer available by default. It can be accessed in the File menu and under the File menu you’ll see New → Elements 11 (or New Element 11), which will open a new document in Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.

Mac
In macOS Mojave, you can open a new file or select an existing file to edit by clicking on the File menu and choosing New.
Alternatively, you can go directly to the “File” menu and select New. You can also press Command+N.

In Android, you can open a new file or select an existing file to edit by clicking on the Home button (or pressing the 4-key on a phone).

Slow release of bioactive glass monoliths coated with chitosan.
The slow release of bioactive glass monoliths (CaP ceramics) was investigated using the polymer coating technique. Chitosan, a linear polymer, was applied as an organic membrane on a previously synthesized monolith using the emulsion coating technique. The coating was stable in physiological solutions and its morphology did not change in vitro. Chitosan was characterized by swelling tests, by impedance spectroscopy (IS) and by glass transition temperature (T(g)). Chitosan coating significantly prolonged the slow release (approximately 10-fold) of a bioactive glass monolith compared with the uncoated control. The T(g) of chitosan calculated from dielectric constant was 80 degrees C, while the onset of glass transition occurred at 38 degrees C. The pH profile of monoliths immersed in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) was similar to uncoated monoliths and increased linearly with time. The values of pH(max) and pH(min) of the coated monoliths were 6.81 and 4.50, respectively, at 3 weeks. The decrease in pH was caused by the dissolution of the CaP phase, which subsequently stimulated the formation of hydroxyapatite (HA) on the surface of the monolith. In vitro cellular tests demonstrated that the proliferation of L929 cells was more stimulated on the chitosan coated monoliths than the uncoated control. Cell adhesion increased on the monoliths indicating that the chitosan coating will provide a favorable environment for cell migration.Q:

The present invention relates to a solid-state image pickup device, and more particularly to a solid-state image pickup device having a sensor element of an interline transfer system.
2. Description of the Related Art
A solid-state image pickup device having a sensing element of an interline transfer system (hereinafter referred to as an interline transfer CCD (charge coupled device)) is widely used as a video camera or the like. FIG. 5 shows an example of a sensing element of an interline transfer CCD. The sensing element shown in FIG. 5 is a so-called vertical scanning type CCD. A plurality of vertical CCDs arranged in the column direction are connected in series, and are controlled to effect vertical scanning. A light shielding layer is formed in front of the vertical CCDs in the vertical direction, and a light shielding electrode is formed over the light shielding layer. Light entering the light shielding layer transmits through the light shielding electrode to the vertical CCDs. Signals are output from the vertical CCDs to the outside through a horizontal CCD arranged in the horizontal direction (row direction).
FIG. 6 shows one example of a photodiode section of the vertical CCD. The photodiode section shown in FIG. 6 is a photodiode to which a vertical transfer channel is added. Light transmitting through the light shielding electrode is received by the photodiode, and a signal current corresponding to the amount of received light is output. When the photodiode is clamped to a potential higher than the ground potential, potential level of a dark current can be reduced by adopting a clamping operation. However, the clamping operation has a problem in that a part of a voltage applied to the vertical transfer channel changes, so that the dark current varies due to a change in the amount of incident light.
To solve this problem, a known solid-state image pickup device adopts a so-called clock drive system, in which a buffer storage section (storage node) for preventing the variance in the dark current due to the clamping operation is disposed between the photodiode and the vertical transfer channel. A technique is known in which the dark current of the buffer storage section is set to a value equivalent to or less than that of the photodiode, and a potential of the buffer storage section is set to be the ground potential level.
