rex and the party head to the city of vale of yohoso, which is in the mountains overlooking the southern part of torna. upon arriving, the party meets with nio, the city’s leader, who tells them to first stop at the tower of transformation, a mysterious building which has been watching over the city for centuries. rex is greeted by the tower’s resident ai, elora, and is escorted to the tower’s main hall, where she reveals herself to be malos’s true driver. elora tells rex and the party that she is using the tower to prevent malos from destroying torna and asks for their help in stopping malos.
the party agrees to assist elora, who leads them to a room containing a massive matrix crystal, the location of which rex has previously been told about. while the party waits for the party to wake up, elora takes them to the rest of the tower, which contains numerous rooms dedicated to different titan races and their driver programs. as the party enters these rooms, rex and his party realize that elora has blocked the memory of each room from him.
after rex is freed, malos reveals that he has killed king eulogimenos, and that he will now be able to take over torna as the rightful ruler. malos then attacks rex, but rex is able to use his aegis weapons to defend himself, turning the attack back on malos. rex is able to use his aegis weapons to amplify the power of mythra, and the fight ends in malos’s defeat.
malos then becomes enraged and uses his last powers to resurrect jin. he then demands that jin take him to the world tree, but jin refuses and states that malos must be stopped. he then instructs jin to hold him and banish him back to amalthus, which jin is unable to do. malos then turns to pneuma and demands that she turn rex and the party into core crystals, which she refuses. malos then uses the gaia crystals from the omega fetter to turn rex and pneuma into core crystals, though they are still alive. malos then proceeds to turn the artifices into core crystals. he then explains that he is not truly driven by greed, but by a desire for the world’s balance. he also reveals that he intended to let the world tree destroy the world until the other aegis could rescue him.
